A few years ago my brilliant brother introduced me to “How To Change Your Mind: ย What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence” by Michael Pollan.
Being a subject close to my heart it immediately gripped my attention, and I devoured the book in a matter of days. Much of what was being discussed, was not new knowledge to me, but the fact that a highly respected investigative journalist had written a well-researched book about psychedelics, that would reach the mainstream population excited and inspired me. This was incredibly exciting news, and for ages after reading the book, I was singing its praises to anyone who’d listen to my babbling.
On 12 July 2022 Netflix release the docuseries “How To Change Your Mind” (thankfully, a shortened title!). And honestly, this was one of the biggest moments in the world of psychedelics. It will always be remembered as a moment in time that changed the face of psychedelics from “crazy tripping hippies” to a new approach to the holistic healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
One good way to understand a complex system is to disturb it and then see what happens.
~ Michael Pollan
Although the docuseries is a superb introduction to the extraordinary healing abilities of psychedelics and 100% worth the watch. However, if you are a bookworm, I highly recommend reading the book or even listening to it on Audible.
